Strabag Kunstforum Artcollection Huber Lisa 04

Carinthian-born Lisa Huber (Afritz 1957) deals in her mostly large-scale woodcuts and silhouettes with sacred themes and with depictions of animals inspired by medieval manuscripts such as the Physiologus. Her extensive knowledge of Christian imagery and psalms repeatedly serves as inspiration for the Berlin-based artist. Huber creates thoughtfully complex works with a distinctive repertoire of colors and clear formal language, enormous lenten cloths, magnificent stained glass windows and stelae, as well as elaborate woodcuts made with great physical effort. Lisa Huber was awarded the Bauholding Kunstförderpreis, the predecessor of the STRABAG Artaward, in 1996.
