The Strabag Artlounge was created in 2004 as a new exhibition and communication platform for visitors and employees. It is situated on the top floor of the STRABAG HAUS, located in Vienna´s Donau-City. The exhibition area is divided into two levels and includes a restaurant and an info point with catalogs and art newspapers informing about current exhibitions and art events. Highly modern design and advanced technology support the large exhibitions, which are further enhanced by the spectacular view of Vienna.

OPENING - Opening exhibition
In December 2004, the Strabag Artlounge was opened with an exhibition of representative winners of the Strabag Artaward from the years 1994 to 2002 (formerly called the Bauholding Strabag Promotion Award). Works by Daryoush Asgar, Helmut Ditsch, Oliver Dorfer, Lorenz Estermann, Franco Kappl, Nikolaus Moser, Oran, Tobias Pils, Catharina Vopava and Christina Zurfluh were shown in that exhibition. The award was a recognition of their successful artistic development. The exhibition covered artistic positions between abstraction and figuration. The focus was on the medium of painting. The trend toward classical-modern board pictures, the new interpretation of traditional views through large formats and the influence of the media world became evident in the exhibition. The works, which all took considerable time and materials to create, also remarkably showed evidence of the return of narrative and postmodern content.
In spring of 2005 the Strabag Artaward was organized for the first time at the Strabag Artlounge in Vienna.

PROGRAM
The annual program consists of award ceremony and five solo-exhibitions of the nominated artists of the Strabag Artaward and special exhibitions of the older generation of artists (emphases of the Strabag Artcollection).
