Philip Patkowitsch
The vast picture show

In "The vast picture show" Philip Patkowitsch, born 1981 in Zell am See, shows new drawings and prints. The winner of the STRABAG Artaward International 2013 has been dealing intensively with these media for a long time, making use of the richly pictorial stock of Hollywood cinema. Patkowitsch develops an ambiguous, dark visual language from his alienated portraits at the interface between objectivity and abstraction, the adapted and graphically implemented quotations and film titles. Persistently and not free from irony, he explores the limits of the medium and invites the viewer to question their own viewing habits.

Opening: Thursday, January 30th, 2014, 6:30 p.m.
Art lounge in the STRABAG house
Donau-City-Strasse 9, 1220 Vienna

Welcome: DI Siegfried Wanker, Member of the Management Board, STRABAG SE
