Strabag Kunstforum Artcollection Wurm Erwin 03

Erwin Wurm (Bruck/Mur 1954) studied at the University of Applied Arts and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. The artist coined the term Performative Sculpture and in his work deals with the exploration of the various concepts of sculpture. In addition, Wurm created his infamous One Minute Sculptures. Here, the viewers are encouraged to interact with the sculptures found in the exhibition space. Everyday objects are placed in a different context of experience and documented by means of photographs. The Fat-sculptures by Erwin Wurm, on the other hand, are status symbols, such as cars, which are inflated and displayed in an oversized manner. In the course of the construction of the STRABAG building in Bratislava, the work House Attack, which was first shown on the roof of the Museum Moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig in Vienna's Museumsquartier, was mounted on the roof. Here, modern architecture meets petit-bourgeois building. Erwin Wurm turns the single-family house upside down and stages his artistic ideas with humor and irony. In 2017, the artist represented Austria at the Venice Biennale.
