STRABAG ARTAWARD INTERNATIONAL
The Strabag Artaward International is an international subsidy award for artists under the age of forty in the fields of painting and drawing. It is a continuation of the Strabag Artaward that has been awarded to Austrian artists for the past thirteen years and will now include four countries for three years each. From 2009 until 2011, artists from Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia are eligible to participate for the first time.
After the exhibition of the nominated works each of the five nominated artists gets a solo-exhibition at the Artlounge in the Vienna Strabag House. Works by the awarded artists will also be purchased for the collection. The prize-winning artists are then invited to stay as artists-in-residence at the Strabag Artsstudio in the Vienna Strabag House.
Participating countries 2012-2014: Austria, Poland, Russia, Romania
After three years, it will be time in 2012 to change up the countries participating in the STRABAG Artaward International. As the home country of STRABAG,Austria remains a permanently participating country. From 2012 to 2014, young artists from Austria, Poland, Russia and Romania will have the opportunity to compete for the STRABAG Artaward International:

STRABAG ARTAWARD INTERNATIONAL 2011
Hans Peter Haselsteiner, Chairman of the Board STRABAG SE presented the Strabag Artaward International at the Award Ceremony on June 30th 2011 at the Artlounge in the Strabag Building Vienna.
During the final jury considerations, it was decided this year for the first time in the 18-year histor y of the STRABAG Artaward to elect two winners for the award. This exception was justified as follows: With their unusual intensity, the works of Márta Czene from Hungary as well as Svätopluk Mikyta from Slovakia were found to be equally impressive after multiple votes and many heated discussions. Both artists demonstrated out standing artistic quality, content and thematic focus as well as mature technique.

The Strabag Kunstforum proudly presents

STRABAG ARTAWARD AUSTRIA

STRABAG ARTAWARD for Austrian artists 1994-2008

Until 2008 the Artaward was directed toward young Austrian artists and featured painting and drawing. The award has been a tradition for many years and is well-known and recognized among experts. Up tol 2002 the Austrian Strabag Artaward, created in 1994 in Carinthia, was presented in the Strabag Gallery in Klagenfurt. After a break of two years, the Artaward was transferred in 2005 to the new Strabag headquarters in Vienna in keeping with the goal of an international expansion.
Up to 400 applicants sent documentation of their works. 50 to 80 participating artists were chosen by the preliminary jury. Each of them had to bring three original artworks to the Strabag Artlounge. The art experts of the main jury selected the winner and four nominated artists from among these works.

STRABAG ARTAWARD HUNGARY 1996-2008

Up to 2008 Hungarian artists of ages 40 and younger were invited to take part in the Artaward of the Hungarian Strabag company. Three art works by each of the artists were brought to the Strabag headquarters in Budapest (60-150 participants per year).
A jury consisting of 5 members selected the prize winner (prize money HUF 1000000). In addition 4 awards of recognition (worth HUF 400000 each) were given out. Since 2009, the Hungarian award has been integrated into Strabag Artaward International.

As over the past twelve years, the Strabag Artaward organized by Strabag Hungary was handed out at the Ludwig Museum in Budapest, where all award ceremonies and exhibitions of the  winning works took place. The catalog “10 Years of the Strabag Award in Hungary” was presented in 2006.

The organizers of the Hungarian Artaward were Sándor Pinczehelyi, artist and curator and József Appelshofer of Strabag Hungary.
The members of the jury were Lóránd Hegyi, Katalin Néray, Bencsik Barnabás, Zsolt Petrányi, Bálványos Anna, Márta Kovalovszky, Barbara Baum and Wilhelm Weiss.
