Days and spaces
The STRABAG Art Forum is pleased to present the exhibition of the winner of the STRABAG Artaward International 2017 Julia Steiner.
From 2015 - 2017, the STRABAG Artaward International has been awarded in the BeNeLux countries, North Rhine-Westphalia and Switzerland, in addition to Austria. Julia Steiner was able to convince the jury with her works submitted to the art award and was thus chosen as the first winner from Switzerland! In preparation for the solo exhibition, Julia Steiner worked in the STRABAG Artstudio. Inspired by the spatial conditions of the Artlounge in the STRABAG Haus, Vienna, new works were created which are now presented with current works of the artist in the exhibition Days and Spaces.
Present and freeing at the same time. Involving and introverted. Dominant and fragile. Julia Steiner's drawings are characterized by the simultaneity of such different qualities. She draws without prior sketches in layers of black gouache on white sheets of paper and walls. The lightness of the paintings is rooted in a consistency that owes itself to the vigorous application of dry paint with bristle brushes, sometimes with drawing precision, sometimes with painterly blurriness, razor-sharp to blurred. She also plays with finesse on large-format paper and surfaces in public spaces.
Welcome 6:30 p.m.
