Claus Prokop (Klagenfurt 1966) studied architecture at the Vienna University of Technology and at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. In 2000 he received a recognition of the Bauholding Kunstförderpreis, the predecessor of the STRABAG Artaward. His work includes painting, video and architecturally associated projects. Prokop works in series, artistically addressing specific themes over a period of years. The starting point always remains the landscape. However, Prokop's paintings are not concerned with a realistic depiction of the landscape, but rather with "breaking it down" into a wide variety of individual parts and structures.
