Walter Eckert (Leobersdorf 1913-2001 Vienna) studied with Herbert Boeckl at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and later taught there himself from 1967 to 1983. As president and later longtime board member of the Vienna Secession, he shaped the exhibition scene in Vienna for many years. In painting, Eckert was primarily concerned with the human figure, which he depicted mostly abstractly on canvas with powerful brushstrokes and characterized by bright colors and striking black. The colorful lines merge playfully into each other and give the viewer a lot of room for interpretation.
