Ákos Ezer (Pécs/HU 1989) studied painting at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. In his series of works, numerous figures can be found crowded together, their bodies bending into all kinds of poses. All of them can be understood as a kind of alter ego of the artist because the starting point is his own body and the numerous faces that function like masks. Ezer's working process is spontaneous and intuitive; without sketching, he applies the paint to the canvas, sometimes with the aid of brushes or painted directly from the tube onto the canvas. The primary, bright contrasting colors are also reminiscent of comics. In his works there is a dense accumulation of colors, shapes and figures. Ákos Ezer plays with irony, humor and absurdity, leading the viewer into an indefinable, seemingly narrow "space" full of agile human figures that stand out with their colorful faces, debauched limbs, whimsical hairstyles or garish clothing. Ákos Ezer received a recognition award from the STRABAG Artaward International in 2022.
