Marcin Jasik (Warsaw/PL 1990) studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In his works he has devoted himself to abstraction, while repeatedly making references to art history. Thus, a cycle of works inspired by the frescoes of the early Renaissance painter Giotto di Bondone, but also numerous echoes of American color field painting can be found in his works. For Marcin Jasik, art is always about timeless and universal ideas. In his abstract and reduced works, he uses a wide variety of materials such as black acrylic spray -which is increasingly associated with street art- and combines it with pastel colors, among other things. He always chooses red, because for him it is the most energetic and lively of all colors. The structures that each material leaves on the canvas are very different from each other and create a kind of tension. Horizontal lines defining surfaces can be read as visual parables - the upper surfaces represent the sky, the lower ones the earth, something earthly and deeply human. Marcin Jasik received a recognition award from the STRABAG Artaward International in 2022.
