Maria Moser

The Color - pure pigment - is the defining component on the sometimes large-format canvases of the Upper Austrian painter Maria Moser (Frankenburg 1948). In varying consistencies - from translucent glazes to impasto layers of paint enriched with sand - Moser creates painterly textures on rough, unprimed canvases. Black and red in all shades appear in almost all of the artist's paintings, while shades of green are completely absent. It is the colors of fire, rust, and weathering that also have a suggestive effect in Maria Moser's work.
