Carinthian artist Nikolaus Moser (Spittal/Drau 1956) studied at the University of Applied Arts Vienna under Carl Unger. Moser took advantage of the opportunity at Unger, in addition to developing his own style, to acquire manual skills, such as handling the oil press machine and mixing pigments. Drawing inspiration from nature, he committed himself to abstraction at an early age, using rich, vibrant colors to create a coloring that is defined by atmosphere and intensity. A harmonious coexistence and interplay of colors is virtuously composed by Moser on the canvas, with landscape themes being taken up again and again. In Moser's work, the surface of the painting is usually characterized by a multiple layering of colors and the resulting structures - an appearance that suggests an impetuous battle of colors during the painting process.
